Overview

An electrical engineer designs, develops, tests, and maintains electrical systems, equipment, and components, from large-scale power grids to small electronic devices like smartphones. They perform calculations, conduct research, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring projects from concept to production.

Core Responsibilities

1. Design & Development

  • Create new electrical systems, equipment, and components such as motors, power generation equipment, and electronic devices.

2. Testing & Maintenance

  • Inspect and test electrical and electronic equipment to ensure reliability and safety.

  • Develop maintenance procedures.

3. Research & Analysis

  • Conduct research for new applications.

  • Perform detailed calculations.

  • Analyze system requirements, capacity, and cost.

4. Project Management

  • Manage projects from concept to manufacturing.

  • Oversee technical, regulatory, and safety aspects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.

5. Compliance

  • Ensure all designs and products meet relevant safety standards and engineering codes.

6. Collaboration

  • Work with other engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
